Tezpur, July 11: A refresher training for all the stakeholders of the juvenile justice dispensation system was held here at the conference hall of the ADR Centre Tezpur on Wednesday. The programme was organized by District Legal Services Authority, Sonitpur. The programme was attended by the District and Sessions Judge-cum-chairman, Sonitpur, A K Borah, other judicial officers of the district judiciary, members of Juvenile Justice Board, Probation Officers, Child Protection Officers, social workers, special Juvenile Police Unit and others.
Attending the programme, Debashish Saikia, Chief Judicial Magistrate, emphasized the need for proper implementation of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 in the district, so that the children found to be in conflict with law could be reformed by adopting a child-friendly approach whereby the best interest of the child would not be compromised. He further added that this would help in reducing the incidence of crimes committed by children. Earlier, Mridu Chanda Bordoloi, the secretary of DLSA, Sonitpur, while explaining the objective of the refresher programme, said that the training would equip all the stakeholders with better knowledge and procedures in dealing effectively with juvenile cases in the district.
