Regiol council for Dimasas demanded

DIPHU, Feb 21: Dimasa Regiol Council Demand Committee submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi recently demanding a regiol council for Dimasa people living in Karbi Anglong. Talking to media persons, Prab Nunisa, chief convener of Dimas Regiol Council Demand Committee, said that three years back the DHD Accord was signed but till now no sign of implementation of the accord has been seen. Dimasa-domited areas are still craving for development which has been allegedly deprived by the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), he said. He further questioned that if Garo and th Jogi communities had their regiol councils then why not the Dimasa people?

Nunisa said that the Chief Minister had given a positive response to their demand and they were hopeful.
