Release renovation funds for house of Rasaraj: AXX to Dispur

GUWAHATI, May 18: In a letter to the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday, the Axom Xaitya Xabha has appealed the State Government to release the promised sum of Rs 50 lakh to initiate the renovation work of the Rasaraj Lakshminath Bezbarua’s Sambalpur residence. Earlier on October 30, 2017, the Cultural Affairs Minister Naba Kumar Doley and Chief Minister’s Media Adviser Hrishikesh Goswami visited and took stock of the dilapidated condition of the heritage property located at Sambalpur, Odisha and promised to release a sum of Rs 50 lakh for its conservation. Terming the residence as a symbol of cultural bridge between Assam and Odisha, Xabha president Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi said that Bezbarua enriched not only the Assamese literature with his essays, plays, fiction and poetry but he also created numbers of Assamese classical music from there.
