Reliance Jio leads revenue market share in Assam for second consecutive Quarter

Guwahati: Reliance Jio continued to dominate the revenue market share in Assam with an increase in its quarterly revenue for the 3rd Quarter of Financial Year 2018-19 ending December 2018, as per data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

In Assam, Jio has consolidated its revenue market leadership at 37.9 per cent in Q3 improving from the last quarter at 36.9 per cent. It is worth mentioning that the RMS for Jio in Assam has doubled from 18.9 per cent over the corresponding quarter of last year. Airtel has an RMS of 36.2 per cent and Vodafone Idea has 21.1 per cent as of Q3.

Jio has been able to garner its market leadership in Assam through a robust 4G LTE network deployment covering more than 94 per cent of the total population which is being revamped to soon cover 99 per cent population.

The recent subscriber data published by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) for December 2018 has revealed that Reliance Jio and BSNL were the only telecom service providers to have a net addition of new customers in Assam, while others witnessed a decline in subscriber numbers in this month. As per the report Reliance, Jio added 2,03,756 customers and BSNL added 19,960 in December 2018 while Vodafone Idea lost over 1,26,548 subscribers followed by a decline of 18,061 subscribers of Bharti Airtel.

Notably, Reliance Jio has been leading new subscriber additions in Assam in every month of 2018. At the beginning of the year the subscriber market share (CMS) was 12.41 per cent and it has been continuously increasing and is now at CMS of 26.7 per cent, which is more than double of what was at the beginning of the year, at a subscriber base of 56.4 lacs as of December end, as per data released by TRAI.

Circle wise, Jio has over 30 per cent Revenue Market Share(RMS) in 16 out of 23 circles. Nationally, the RMS of Jio is 30 per cent with Airtel at 31.3 per cent and Vodafone Idea at 32.3 per cent.
