Residents demand shifting of vegetable markets

DHUBRI, May 15: The commuters of greater Gauripur area have demanded immediate shifting of the Gauripur wholesale vegetable market from the BR Road. It may be mentioned here that every day tons of vegetables are stocked on the road for sale causing serious traffic jam. Usually, the vegetable growers came to the market from different areas surrounding the town carrying their produce in various vehicles and unload the vegetable on the road causing hardship to pedestrians, especially the school-going children. The municipal authority has not paid any heed to redress the problems of the common people. Moreover, due to increase of the numbers of various types of vehicles and their inorderly plying, the roads have become accident-prone. Considering the urgency of the matter, the people of greater Gauripur area have urged upon the municipal authority to immediately shift the wholesale market from the BR Road to another convenient place for the safety of all concerned.
