Review Meeting For Improving, Strengthening Health Services Held In Cachar

Silchar: A number of issues related to improvement of service delivery and strengthening of health service in Cachar were discussed by Laya A number of issues related to improvement of service delivery and strengthening of health system in Cachar were discussed by Laya Madduri, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, at a recently held review meeting with the officials and the staff of various departments.

She apprised about the findings of the district level monitors who had recently visited various health facilities. She expressed her utter dissatisfaction at the poor management of labour room, biomedical waste management and various other sections of hospitals. Based on these findings, the chairperson issued some corrective measures and also fixed up the timeline.

Laya Madduri instructed re-orientation of all health workers including cleaning staffs of each of the hospital on biomedical waste management should be completed as soon as possible so that biomedical waste management system could be put in place properly, displaying of colour coding protocol on BMW, maintenance and correction of records of labour room register, NBSU register, referral register, drugs, stock register, vaccine register, and bed head tickets, cleaning up of hospital campus, conduction of internal assessment of the hospitals under their jurisdiction in the Kayakalp Assessment Format, re-verification and refilling and rationalisation of drugs and equipment.

Laya Madduri also instructed that the doctors who are not filling up the OPD registers properly should mend their ways and that OPD services in all government hospitals should start timely as per the prescribed rule. The JE (Inst.) and DDSM were also asked to prepare the list of health facilities where new generator sets are urgently required. She requested all the SDM and Hos/hospital in-charges to take ownership of their hospital to improve the service delivery. She emphasized on team effort to achieve the goal of a healthy hospital environment.
