RGI reviews NRC update process

Silchar, June 16: Registrar General of India Sailesh along with joint secretary of the Home Ministry Satyendra Garg, Barak Valley Hills Commissioner Anwar Uddin Choudhury, Additional Director General of Police Mukesh Agarwal, NRC State coordinator Pratek Hajeela, commissioner director L Sweetie Thangsha paid a short visit to Silchar’s Kumbhirgram Airport on Friday and held a high-level review meeting on the proceedings of NRC and related safety and security measures.

The one-hour meeting was held in the lounge which was attended by the Deputy Commissioners and the Superintendents of Police of all the three districts of Barak Valley, Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi.

The administration of all the three districts have been suggested to take measures to tackle security problems and to ward off any untoward incident, if any, post June 30. The team also advised that correct NRC draft list should be out on that day. Moreover, it is essential that social media is monitored constantly and closely so that rumours, fake news, false news and information do not spread. They also discussed the present flood situation of the district.
