Rhino poacher bbed at Borsola

DHEKIAJULI, Feb 22: Borsola police last night arrested a dreaded poacher at Fatasimalugaon under Dhekiajuli Revenue circle in Sonitpur district.  The arrested poacher has been identified as Jamal Uddin. Police recovered a .303 riffle, a magazine and seven live cartridge from the possession of the arrested poacher. Police suspect that the arrested poacher was involved in the recent killing of a rhino in Orang tiol Perk.  Significantly in the last couple of days the Borsola Police led by its OC, Nural Hoque arrested more than 20 poachers from different parts of Borsola area. Earlier on January 3, Assam Rifles and Dhekiajuli police had arrested a poacher during a joint operation near Orang tiol Park. Rafikul Islam was arrested from Phatashimalu village near the tiol park under Barchala police outpost of Dhekiajuli police station. One AK-56 rifle, two magazines and 21 live ammunitions were seized from him. Official sources said the poacher tried to kill a rhino in Orang tiol Park on Sunday but he failed to do so as strict measures are in place. Sources said he was involved in poaching in the tiol park earlier too.
