Rice under Food Security Act distributed

Abhayapuri, Dec 26:  A meeting was held at the town hall of North Salmara, Abhayapuri, Bongaigaon district regarding distribution of rice among beneficiaries under the tiol Food Security Act 2013, stated a press release.

In the meeting, Minister of Irrigation and Soil Conservation Chandan Sarkar was the chief guest, SDO (Civil)  Saranga Pani Sharma presided over the meeting, Deputy Commissioner  Biswajit Pegu, Deputy Director and Additiol Director of Food and Civil Supplies Pramod Chandra Kalita and food inspectors and other officials from the Food and Civil Supply department were present in the meeting amidst a large crowd which included not only the beneficiaries but also local people of Abhayapuri, specially from the BPL community.

Sarkar said that rice was the staple food for the people of Assam. Rice which would be distributed to the BPL community would be available at a very low rate. Sarkar said that the Act which is passed by the Parliament would help the BPL community to a large extent though the State Government had not received enough funds from the Centre.

“Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi will definitely distribute the rice to the BPL community despite facing obstacles,” said the Minister.

DC Biswajit Pegu said that under the tiol Food Security Act with the same ration card every family will be given 5 kg of rice and the transportation charge  from FCI to the people will also be given by the government. For any complain or grievances, he asked the people to approach the supplydepartment. He further added that nowadays online facility was there and hence people could use the internet for any kind of help. The SDO (Civil) said that the tiol Food Security Act cards distributed to the BPL people would help them in various ways.
