Rich tributes paid to cultural icon in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR, June 20: Rich tributes were paid to Kalaguru Bishnu Rabha on Monday, with admirers recalling his contribution to arts, culture and tiolism at various events.

In Sivasagar, officers and staff of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Sivasagar, paid homage to Bishnu Rabha at a function organized at Sukafa Conference Hall. District Development Commissioner (DDC) and Deputy Commissioner in-charge Abhijit Baruah, along with Additiol Deputy Commissioners PR Gharphalia and DN Morang, Revenue Sheristadar Niranjan Sahu, zir Anil Bora, Assistant zir Abhirayan Mili, Prab Saikia, Khirud Changmai, Sanjib Dey and Bul Dutta and other employees of the DC’s office offered floral tributes to a portrait of the iconic artist and patriot.

Baruah appealed to the young generation to realize the ideals and works of Rabha.

ADC Gharphalia exhorted the attending gathering to become motivated by the ideals of the artist who contributed so much to art, dance, music and tiolism.

Two students from Holy me School Migarkhi Chiring and Piyush Priyam Borah performed Rabha Sangeet, while Rumin Baruah recited poems written on Rabha. Niranjan Sahu and Shantanu Chetia also spoke on the legendary artist who straddled the region like a colossus.

On the occasion, plantation programme was also organized where saplings were planted in the office premises by the officers and employees.
