Rickshaw pullers take to streets

GUWAHATI, Jan 31: Hundreds of rickshaw pullers under the banner of Kamrup (M) district committee of The All Assam Rickshaw Pullers’ Union, the leading union of three seater rickshaws in the city, staged demonstrations here today in protest against the alleged police harassment on rickshaw pullers and imposing ‘no entry’ for rickshaws on different roads. Union president Chakreswar Kalita said that the rickshaw pullers have been very badly affected due to imposition of no entry for rickshaws on various roads by Guwhati City Traffic Police. The union submitted a memorandum to Commissioner of Police, Guwahati.
