Rio Olympic venues 95 percent ready

Rio de Janeiro, Jan 5: About 95 percent of construction work at Rio de Janeiro’s two major Olympic venue clusters has been concluded, the official Agencia Brasil news service said. Six venues have been completed: Future Are (handball and goalball), the intertiol broadcast centre, the golf course, the mountain bike track, the BMX track and the canoe slalom course, Xinhua cited the report as saying on Monday.

The venues are located at Olympic Park and Deodoro Park, both in Rio’s west.

Olympic Park will host 16 Olympic and nine Paralympic events. Among the most advanced venues at the complex are the Carioca 3 (98 percent) and Carioca 2 (97 percent) ares while the velodrome is only 76 percent ready. IANS
