Riyan misses ton, Assam bow out

GUWAHATI, Jan 12: It’s too close but yet too far for Riyan Parag as the batsman missed a well deserved century for just 3 runs in the VM Trophy cricket tourment match against Uttar Pradesh in Bangaluru today.The match ended as a draw however Uttar Pradesh moved into the next round by virtue of the first innings lead. The fate of the game already decided when Assam went into bat in their second innings today. Uttar Pradesh, which earlier took first innings lead, scored 413 in their second innings and it dashed all hopes for Assam to make a come back in the game. However Riyan focussed nicely in his innings and played with good determition until he lost his wicket on 97. The batsman took 115 balls to score those runs with the help of 15 boundaries. Assam were 128-1 in their second innings when the match came to an end. Earlier Jitumoni Kalita bowled nicely in the second innings and picked up five wickets for 144 runs. Aryan Sharma of Uttar Pradesh scored a ton and remained not on 124.
