Road blockade

A Correspondent
JOYSAGAR, April 25: A group of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti, Namti regional committee activists staged a road blockade in the Dhepor Tiniali area of Namti, Sivasagar. The KMSS activists also restricted plying of ONGC vehicles to nearby oil rigs and demanded the ONGC authorities to construct the Dhepor Bridge over the Borahi river. KMSS leaders said during the protest that heavy vehicles and vehicles equipped with petroleum exploration machineries of the ONGC mostly used the Borahibari-Dhepor road and the bridge. The heavy vehicles had allegedly broken the bridge and damaged the PWD Borahi- Dhepor road. The ONGC authorities once assured the local villagers that the ONGC authorities would repair the road and also construct the damaged bridge last year but no such steps were taken.
