Road blockade staged

LAKHIMPUR, June 21: The North Lakhimpur regional unit of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) expressed strong reaction on the dilapidated condition of NH-15 and Bantow Bangali connecting road near North Lakhimpur town. Fed up with the alleged negligence of the district PWD office towards the road, the activists of the organization, led by president Jyoti Das and secretary Diganta Bhuyan, staged protest against the department concerned blocking the road on Wednesday in association with the local people.

The activists of the organization condemned the lackadaisical attitude of the department with regard to the issue and alleged that the department along with North Lakhimpur Municipal Board initiated no step to repair the road though many applications were submitted to them one after another. The organization submitted a memorandum to the Chief Engineer of the PWD and the Lakhimpur Deputy Commissioner demanding immediate repair of the road and threatened to initiate strong protest if their demand was not fulfilled.
