Road Blockade Staged by Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba-Chatra Parishad of Sonari

JOYSAGAR: In support of its demand to build the deplorable Bhojo-Sonari main road, the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba-Chatra Parishad, Sonari district committee members staged a road blockade as a mark of protest near Bogoriguri of Sonari town on Friday. The leaders of the organization criticized the role of the Charaideo district PWD division for allegedly not paying interest in the sufferings of the locals by not responding to the prayers of the Sonari citizens to renovate the deplorable Bhojo-Sonari busy road.

Meanwhile, the local villagers and social workers of the greater Sepon area also staged a protest against the Sivasagar district PWD road division authorities for their alleged negligence in construction works of the Deroi bridge over the Desang river at Sepon. The locals have alleged that the construction works of the bridge started about three years ago but due to the negligence of both the Government authorities as well as the construction agency, only 30 percent work progress has been made while the locals have to face immense communication problems. The locals have sought the intervention of the Deputy Commissioner and also of the Upper Assam Commissioner in this respect, sources informed Assam news today.
