DEMOW, May 30: A road accident took place near Demow in Athabari on Wednesday evening where a student of Class VIII died. According to sources, a cement-laded truck (NL 01 Q 7894) which was coming from Demow and heading towards Athabari, hit Zubeen Baroi, a student of Class VIII while he was standing near the road. He died on the spot. After the accident took place, the driver and handyman tried to flee from the site but local people caught both of them and beat them up. An irate mob destroyed the truck and a chaotic situation took place in the area. However, the Demow Police reached the spot and tried to resort to blank firing in the air to control the situation. After that the irate mob pelted stones at the police. The Demow Police recovered the driver and handyman from the irate mob and sent both of them to Demow Model Hospital.
