Road mishap claims one

GAURISAGAR, May 4: One person was killed in a road accident that took place at Gaurisagar near Namdung stone bridge on Thursday afternoon under Joysagar Police outpost in Sivasagar district. He was identified as Bitupon Das (22), son of Noren Das, who lived near the Gaurisagar weekly market. Bitupon was going towards Sivasagar on his  motorbike (AS-03-G-9878) when suddenly  another motor bike bearing registration number AS-03-K-3706 and coming from the opposite direction collided against his bike head-on.

 Bitupan was seriously injured. He was immediately admitted to Sivasagar Civil Hospital but due to his critical condition, later he was shifted to Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh. But on his way to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. Bitupan had married just seven days ago. He is survived by his parents, wife, a brother and sister.
