Road mishap probe involving Minister's son may hit roadblock

Shillong, April 24: The investigation into the motor vehicle mishap involving the son of the State Minister Alexender L Hek that left two policemen dead is expected to hit roadblocks. The incident occurred near the Fourth Furlong tri-junction in the wee hours of April 7.

One prime reason for the likely hindrance is that the statement of the two cops could not be taken. While, one Probot Marak died on the spot, the other Probin D Sangma succumbed to his injuries after a few days. The statement of the Minister son Aibansharai Nongseij, who was on a Mercedence Benz, was taken to ascertain the actual cause of the incident.

Well placed source said that the police have procured the CCTV from the CRPf (NE headquarter) located just by the site of the incident, but refused to divulged on the preliminary findings of the investigation. The Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills Davis N Marak is personally investigating the case that is sensitive and sensational case involving the Minister’s son and two cops who died in the accident. Going by the another source, which is part of the investigation, the two (motor vehicle and Mercedese Benz) were on their respective driving path. “We cannot say who is right or wrong in terms of over-speeding,” stated a source, adding, “the statement of the witness(s) who informed the tragic mishap will have to be examined further. However, a case has been registered against Aibansharai Nongsiej soon after the incident.
