Road Safety Week held

LAKHIMPUR, April 27: Along with the other part of the State as well as the nation, the Road Safety Week was observed in Lakhimpur district too from April 23 under the aegis of District Road Safety Committee. On the fourth day of the event on Thursday, a bike rally and light motor vehicles’ procession was organized in the district headquarter with a view to make adequate awareness on road safety by avoiding accidents. The programme was inaugurated by Additional Superintendent of Police, Santanu Dutta.

It was followed by a public meeting held at the District Transport Office campus in which ADC Ashraful Amin took part as the chief guest. He stressed the application of the instructions served by the Supreme Court regarding road safety. The DTO explained the objectives of the programme while resource person Atul Borah delivered his lecture addressing the students and young generation.

Narayn Kuri, NASA recognized innovator-technologist Uddhav Bharali also spoke on the occasion. The meeting, which was held with the presence of students, employees of passenger vehicles, technical employees of the DTO and common people, concluded with the vote of thanks by Enforcement Inspector Sanjib Borah.
