Road to 2019 Polls: TMC in Fear claims Amit Shah in West Bengal BJP Rally

Kolkata: In a high-voltage rally in West Bengal today, BJP President Amit Shah lambasted the ruling Trinamool Congress as both the message and target were loud and clear.

During the rally which was attended by thousands of BJP supporters, Shah told the cheering crowd “We are here to uproot Mamata Banerjee.”

Reiterating his stand of defence regarding the National Register of Citizens on Saturday, BJP President Shah accused the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of spreading misinformation about the Assam NRC and confusing the people in order to turn them anti-government.

The Trinamool Congress supporters before Amit Shah’s rally in Central Kolkata observed Condemnation Day in several areas of West Bengal including Kolkata in a bid to raise its voice against the publication of the draft NRC in Assam.

Allegations and counter-allegations continue as BJP leader and Union Minister Babul Supriyo accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and TMC of destroying the rich heritage, culture and the future of Bengal’s youth.

Minister Supriyo said, “Politics is fine but Trinamool Congress is turning it into an ugly spat. Trinamool has further worsened the situation in Bengal in the name of ‘Poriborton’ (change) from the 34 years of Left rule.”

“This should not continue. The massive turnout in today’s rally shows that the youth of Bengal are eagerly waiting for the message of Amit Shahji,” he added.
