Road Transport Workers Call for One-day Long ‘Wheel Stop’ on August 7

Our Correspondent

Bongaigaon: In support of various demands, the All India Road Transport Workers’ Federation (AIRTWF) has called for one-day long ‘wheel stop’ on August 7. Hareswar Das, working president of AIRTWF, said that though the road transport workers were playing a vital role in the communication sector of the country, they were being deprived. “Road transport workers never get any help or compensation from the government in any case. Hence to put forward our demands, we have called for a wheel stop on August 7. We demand abolishment of revised motor vehicle bill, implementing GST on petrol and diesel and reducing the high rate of issuing permit and fitness certificate. Unless our demands are fulfilled soon, we will resort to massive democratic agitation in the coming days.”
