NAGAON, April 23: A war of words took place between former Congress minister Rokibul Hussain and BJP leader Jitu Goswami on Monday which drew sharp reaction from all sections of the people.
Both leaders held two separate press conferences at Nagaon Rajib Bhavan and Circuit House. Former Congress minister Rokibul Hussain on Monday morning addressed a press conference at Nagaon Rajib Bhavan and in the press conference, Hussain, in connection with the recent CM’s vigilance and anti-corruption wing’s enquiry against his assets, said that it was nothing but vendetta against him. He said that the present State government was a revengeful government and following that notion, the government after receiving a complaint from a person, directly permitted to launch enquiry into his alleged disproportionate assets. He further added that some people behind the scenes had been conspiring against him since 2011-12 and during that period some of them had already apologized to him after he took the matter to court.
On the other hand, soon after the press conference of Rokibul Hussain, BJP leader Jitu Goswami addressed another press conference at Nagaon Circuit House. He said that if Hussain was clean then he should not be afraid, rather he should keep quiet and cooperate with the enquiry team. He further added that the enquiry was only against his alleged disproportionate assets, not against his party.
