Rongali Bihu celebrated at Haflong with great enthusiasm

HAFLONG, April 18: With the initiative of the Deputy Commissioner, Dima Hasao Juri Phukan, Rongali Bihu was celebrated with traditiol fervor and great enthusiasm at the premises of DC's Bungalow on Wednesday. In the evening, the programme started with the lighting of lamp by DC, Dima Hasao and Anup Biswas, president, Haflong Press Club in presence of huge gatherings. This was followed by felicitation of invitees including Army officials and others with traditiol gamosa by the Deputy Commissioner and the officials of DC's establishment. The Deputy Commissioner in her speech highlighted about the rich tradition and culture and assured to make the district more beautiful. She also sought full cooperation from all sections of the people of Dima Hasao. Later, the Deputy Commissioner sang few Bihu songs which kept the audience spellbound.   Meanwhile, under the leadership of Subar Handique, president, Haflong mghar, the artists including children performed Bihu dance till midnight. The entire programme was conducted by Dhiruth Barman.
