Rongjali Bwisagu Bidai celebrated in Serfanguri

KOKRAJHAR, May 12: The Sanswrang club-cum-library, Serfanguri on Thursday celebrated Rongjali Bwisagu Bidai Fwrbw at Serfanguri High School playground. The day-long programme included competition on Bwisagu dance and songs. The Bwisagu songs and dance competition was iugurated by Kanteswar Mohilary, Principal of Dwimu Sangeet Academy, Serfanguri.
In his iugural speech, the Principal of Dwimu Sangeet Academy, Serfanguri Kanteswar Mohilary said, “Bwisagu brings love and unity among all and it enhances the bond of integrity.” He said some of the basic art of the traditiol Bwisagu dance had been diluted which needed to be censored. The folk songs of the Bodos have different art and melody. The musical instruments for folk songs are also familiar, he said adding that the modern instruments are seen to be domiting the traditiol instruments. He said the use of Octopad and other modern instruments had deformed the traditiol melody. He called upon the people to preserve the basic art and origin of the Bwisagu. An open meeting and prize distribution was held with Adhiraj Daimary, president of the club, in the chair. The EM of Sports and Youth Welfare, BTC Doneswar Goyary attended the prize distribution ceremony as the chief guest. The prize distribution programme was also attended by the Principal of Jata College, Serfanguri Subung Basumatary, leaders of different organizations and local intellectuals. A cultural night was also held in the evening which was iugurated by former MCLA of Dotma, Indra Mohan Brahma.
Earlier, the president of the Sanswrang Club-cum-library, Adhiraj Daimary hoisted its flag.
