Rongjali Bwisagu celebrated at Dimapur

KOKRAJHAR, May 16: The first annual Rongjali Bwisagu Fwrbw, Dimapur was celebrated at the Urban Haat, Rajabari, adjacent to the ancient Royal palace of Kachari Kingdom in Dimapur (galand) with a day long colourful programme on Saturday last.
Sources from the organiser said that various traditiol dance performances which inter alia include Boro Bwisagu, Boro Demshi, Dimasa Kachari dance, Mech-Kachari dance by various cultural troupes and artists were showcased. A colourful cultural procession was also taken up around the Rajabari Rajabari complex, the ancient Royal palace of the Kachari Kingdom which was flagged of by Orenthang Lotha, ADC of Okha, galand. Earlier in the morning, flag hoisting of Rongjali Bwisagu was carried out by ren Chandra Basumatary, president of organising committee, followed by lighting of holy lamp at ‘Bathou’ by Bijar Mech, an elderly person from Kuchiabil, Dimapur. Traditiol games competition including ‘Batha’, ‘tug of war’ etc. was held among the public.
An open session was also held which was presided over by president of organising committee ren Chandra Basumatary and iugurated by Berlao K. Karjee, adviser of All Assam Tribal Youth League. Sahitya Academi awardee Dr. Mangalsingh Hazowary attended the function as the Chief Guest. Vice president of Bodo Writers’ Academy Dr. Subhangsa Muchahary, former vice president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha among others attended the function.
