RPRS programme to begin in Barpeta from today

BARPETA, April 3: The second phase of the Raijar Padulit Raijar Sarkar (RPRS) will commence in Barpeta district from April 4. A training programme for the officials, who will participate in it from April 4 to April 8, was conducted at the auditorium of the District Library here on Wednesday.

Addressing the officials, Varli Deka, Deputy Commissioner of Barpeta, thanked them for the successful completion of the first phase of the RPRS in January this year. Stating that the Government has lauded the achievements of the district during the first phase of the RPRS, she requested all concerned to perform their duties sincerely and keep the reputation of the district intact. She asked the officials to deal with the problems which were encountered earlier also so that all the agenda could be completed within the specific time frame. The Deputy Commissioner urged the officials to heed the problems of the people and accept all applications filed by them so that the gap between the people and the Government is bridged effectively.

Additiol Deputy Commissioner Rohini Kumar Choudhury said that the priority issues of the RPRS this time would be social justice and women’s empowerment. He requested the officials to explain the schemes of the Government specially initiated for women. Mahmud Hassan, Project Director of the DRDA and nodal of officer of the programme, explained in detail the duties and responsibilities of the officials engaged in the RPRS.

BK Baruah, General Mager of the District Industries and Commerce Centre, and Bimal Mahanta, District Social Welfare Officer, participated in the programme as special trainers. Officials of Education, NRLM, Handloom and Textiles, Sericulture, Social Welfare, Food and Civil Supplies and Labour and Employment departments presented the development and welfare schemes of their respective departments.
