RSS takes out march in city

SHILLONG, Jan 23: Members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on the occasion of the 119th Birth Anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose took out a rally in the city on Saturday.

Members of the RSS, Shillong Vibhag (Zone) comprising youth and the seniors donned white shirts and khakhi shorts wielding sticks in hand took out a rally on the streets of the city.

The march which was held in the early morning hours started at 8 am from Upper Mawprem and passed through various routes of the city. Amid police escort, the march ended at Balika Vidyalaya School, opposite Lady Kean College.

Later speaking to the gathering at the end of the march, RSS Vibhag Karyawa, Shillong secretary, Mangkashang Khongshei criticized the social system of the tribals in the state.

According to Khongshei, the social system of the tribal makes it easier for illegal Bangladeshi migrants to marry the indigenous girls.

Khongshei told the media that around 293 RSS members took part in the march today even as he said that a similar march was held in South West Garo Hills, Zikzak.
