Rukmini Haran staged in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR, January 11: A 20-day long workshop on Ankiya Bhao and Gayan Bayan was held at Kala Bihar Sangeet Vidyalay in Sivasagar under the auspices of Kala Bihar Sangeet Vidyalay in collaboration with Sibsagar tya Samaj.

The workshop, which took place from December 20, 2015 to January 8 with a view to promote the legacy of Sankaradeva, was planned and projected by Mrili Mahanta Chaliha.

To conclude the workshop in a grand way, participants of the workshop ected the Ankiya Bhao Rukmini Haran, directed by the Principal of Xatriya Sangeet Vidyalaya, Gobin Mahanta at tya Mandir.

The bhao episode dealt with love of Rukmini for Krish and was depicted with a deep touch of devotion by Debajyoti Borgohain and Mahathi Chaliha who played the characters of Krish and Rukmini respectively, received warm applause from the full-packed audience.

The bhao was iugurated by Dr Joy Krish Mahanta, former Principal of Kanoi College, Dibrugarh, while Sivasagar Superintendent of Police And Prakash Tiwari lighted the ceremonial lamp. The concluding ceremony also saw the presence of former MP Kirip Chaliha, Rupam Baruah, Xatradhikar Lila Mahanta, Lakhikanta Mahanta and noted social activist Saurav Chaliha as distinguished guests.
