Sachin Tendulkar appreciates Narendra Modi’s gesture towards promoting cricket

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s gesture for promoting cricket is highly praised by cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar. The master-blaster is glad to see that PM Modi is taking such initiatives towards the promotion of cricket which is playing such a vital role in making a worldwide favourite. Recently, Modi was seen gifting a cricket bat to Maldives President which was signed by the Indian national team.

Such acts of gifting cricket related mementos to VVIP friends by the Prime Minister and that is also signed by the national cricket team is opening the door to many possibilities for cricket in those countries which do not practice the game. Hence, such a good example of "cricket diplomacy" during the ongoing World Cup is worth appreciating.

Sachin took to tweet his appreciation for the PM in the following words:

"Thank you for promoting cricket, @narendramodi ji. Good example of cricket diplomacy during the @cricketworldcup."

Tendulkar also added that with such initiatives being taken by the PM, he is now hoping to see the Maldives on the cricketing map soon.

Notably, in his last rendezvous with the Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had presented a cricket bat which was signed by members of the Indian cricket team. Modi was on a visit to the island nation.

After making the gift, Modi tweeted the same in the following words:

"Connected by cricket! My friend, President Solih is an ardent cricket fan, so I presented him a cricket bat that has been signed by Team India playing at the CWC2019."

As team India is battling for the World Cup trophy in London currently, the people of the nation are putting its best efforts to boost the confidence and morale of the team in any way possible. Whether it is the Prime minister or the very common man of the nation, what everybody is looking forward is to see the team bag the trophy back to its soil for the third time.
