SAF Games defer, now in January

GUWAHATI, July 9:  The SAF Games deferred again and it will now be held in Guwahati and Shillong in the early part of the next year. There will be altogether 22 disciplines in this Game. The Indian Olympic Association earlier fixed the tentative date of the Game from December 10-20 this year. However after a meeting with the officials of the participating countries in Delhi yesterday it was decided that the Games will now be held in the second week of January. Athletes from all eight south Asian countries - Afghanistan, Bhutan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka - are expected to take part in the Games. This time Indian Olympic association will only deal with the technical aspect of the Games while the fincial aspect is expected to be handled by the government.
