Safe sites in capital complex selected

ITAGAR, June 26: A coordition meeting on disaster magement was held today in the chamber of the Capital Complex DC Mige Kamki with all the line departments.

As the incessant rain has already caused much devastation resulting in loss of lives and properties to the denizens of the Capital Complex and further as monsoon has already approached, fear of more devastation cannot be ruled out.  Therefore, the objective of the meeting was to identify and notify few places which could act as emergency safe shelters during disaster situations.  

The DC called upon the stakeholders to play active role as disaster doesn’t come knocking. “We need to be alert to tackle any kind of crisis, the DC added. He urged the officers to work in coordition with each other and further directed them to furnish a detailed list of all the men and machineries available with their respective departments which could be used during the time of crisis. Kamki also appealed the residents not to make houses near river beds or llahs or indulge in illegal earth cutting causing more harm to the injury, an official communiqué informed.

He further asked the forest officers to prepare a proper strategy to remove all the low lying trees that are posing threat to the public. He also directed the Power Department to identify vulnerable areas which may be notified as danger zone for public safety and security.

After a threadbare discussion, the meeting selected a few locations at Itagar, harlagun and Banderdewa for notification as emergency safe shelters during any eventualities, the communiqué added.
