Sahitya Divas observed

DIBRUGARH, MARCH 28: Sahitya Divas was observed at Dibrugarh Hanuman Bux Surujmall Kanoi Commerce College (DHSKCC) recently to mark the 77th death anniversary of Sahityarathi Lakshmith Bezbaruah, the doyen of Assamese literature.

The Sahityarathi Laxmith Bezbaruah Memorial Lecture, held on the occasion on the topic ‘Xahityrathi Laxmith Bezbaruah Aru Adhunik Chinta Cheto’ (Sahityarathi Lakshmith Bezbaruah and Modern Thought) was addressed by the Associate Professor of Assamese Department, Dibrugarh University (DU), Dr Jayanta Kumar Borah who was the chief guest.  The proramme, organized by the Assamese Department in association with the Interl Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the college, was chaired by the Principal, Dr Khanindra Mishra Bhagawati.

Dr Borah in his deliberation said, “Modern thought and conscience flow in Laxmith Bezbaruah’s life and literally works. His creative conscience influenced a deep sense of novelty on the Assamese literary thought because of his closeness with the Bengal reissance in the second part of the 19th century as well as romanticism of European literature blended in Indian heritage.”

 The programme, amongst others, was attended by Head, Assamese Department, Dr Anju Borah, and Associate Professor, Assamese, Dr Gayatri Devi Goswami of MDK Girls’ College and Professor, Assamese Department, DHSK College Anta Teron as special guests, besides students and teachers of MDK Girls’ College as well as DHSK College and host college.

The 50th issue of the college magazine Banijya Darpan, published under special initiative of the Head, Assamese Department, DHSKCC, bajyoti Dutta, was formally released on the occasion.
