Sal logs seized at Mauzabari

KOKRAJHAR, September 14: Forest staff of the Gaurang Range under Haltugaon Forest Division seized sal logs at Mauzabari in Simbargaon on Tuesday morning which was brought by the timber smugglers in buffalo carts from Jharbari forest under Kokrajhar police station. Dhiran Basumatary, Range Officer of the Gaurang range, said that they had received specific information that some sal logs were being carried illegally to Mauzabari village and accordingly they launched operation and could seized seven pieces of sal logs brought from Jharbari forest. He also said that the value of the seized sal logs could be approximately Rs 50,000 in the market. He further said intensive operation was being carried out against the timber smugglers.
