Samabai Samity Employees' Union demands release of pending bills

KOKRAJHAR, March 11: The All BTC GP Level Samabai Samity Employees’ Union on Wednesday warned that the union would be compelled to launch an agitation if their outstanding bills for the last six years were not released in four districts of BTC as early as possible.

In a press statement, the president of the union, Hajarika Brahma said the government had not released the pending bills for transportation cost and commission for rice lifting and distribution under Antadaya An Yoja (AAY) and Mukhya Mantrir An Yoja (MMAY) for the last six years. He said the GPSS employees were facing problems in running their business due to insufficient fund.  He further said that the huge amount of outstanding bill of transportation charges and commission that had been pending since 2008 were not released by the government in BTC areas till date.

Brahma said the government had not taken steps to release such a huge amount despite timely submission of bills of TC by the GPSS through the office of the Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs. He also warned that the union would be compelled to launch an agitation if the government failed to take appropriate measures for release of fund.

Meanwhile, a delegation of the union led by its president Hajarika Brahma on Wednesday called on the  Principal Secretary of the BTC Anupam Roy and submitted memorandum in support of their problems.
