Samaranch Jr., Erdener elected new IOC vice presidents

Rio de Janeiro, Aug 5: Two new Intertiol Olympic Committee (IOC) vice presidents have been elected along with seven new members on the executive board at the world body’s 129th session ahead of the Rio Olympic Games here.

Spain’s Juan Antonio Samaranch Jr. and Turkey’s Ugur Erdener will replace outgoing vice-presidents wal El Moutawakel of Marocco and Sir Craig Reedie of Britain. Five new and returning members will also join the executive board (EB) as per decisions taken on Thursday at the IOC session. These are Gian Franco Kasper (Switzerland), Angela Ruggiero (United States), Sergey Bubka (Ukraine), Ser Miang Ng (Singapore), and Willi Kaltschmitt (Guatemala). Wu Ching-Kuo and Patrick Hickey will, however, resume their seats as representatives of the Association of Summer Olympic Intertiol Federations (ASOIF) and the Association of tiol Olympic Committees (ANOC), respectively.
