Samarendra Rajkumar Path iugurated

JORHAT, November 13: Samarendra Rajkumar Path, under the aegis of Jorhat Tennis Club, was iugurated by the MLA of Jorhat, Hitendrath Goswami on November 12 at a well attended function, stated a press release.

In the meeting anchored by Isanjyoti Bordoloi, secretary of Jorhat Tennis Club, Raktim Saikia on behalf of the club, offered sincere thanks and gratitude to the Jorhat Municipal Board and the people associated in granting approval to the request of the club in ming the road in front of the club going from KB Road to Soru Path as the Samarendra Rajkumar Path. Saikia recalled and appraised the gathering of the tireless dedication of Samarendra Rajkumar for the promotion and development of not only tennis but also other sports as well as the Kushal Konwar Indoor Stadium and Jorhat Swimming Pool.

In the meeting, MLA Hitendrath Goswami, chairperson of Jorhat Municipal Board and the Deputy Commissioner Virendra Kumar Mittal were felicitated. Dr. Tapan Dutta, eminent sports persolity, Karu Dutta, chairperson JMB, Adity Bezbaruah and Hemanta Gohain spoke on the life and contribution of Samarendra Rajkumar.

VK Mittal, Deputy Commissioner of Jorhat, spoke about what he had heard about Rajkumar and the beautiful avenue. He appreciated ming the road after him and thanked all who were associated with it.

Ankur Rajkumar, eldest son of Samarendra Rajkumar, on behalf of the family, offered sincere thanks and gratitude to all for taking this decision and executing the work beautifully to keep alive the memory of his father in the minds of the people.

Hitendrath Goswami appreciated the manner in which Samarendra Rajkumar worked silently but very effectively for the betterment of the town of Jorhat and said that the ming of the road was a befitting tribute to a life well traversed.
