SAMYPS begins 36-hr hunger strike against Centre's notification

Dibrugarh, September 23: In protest against the recent notification issued by the Central Government to grant Indian Citizenship to migrant Hindu Bangladeshis who had entered the State of Assam before December 31, 2014, the central and district committees of Sadou Asom Muslim Yuba Parishad Sanmilan (SAMYPS) have started a 36-hour hunger strike from Wednesday.

President Islamuddin Ahmed, working president Motiullah Khan, general secretary Parbez Khan, organizing secretary zir Hussain, of SAMYPS and District Committee president Sabri Khan, vice-president Wasik Khan, general secretary Nizam Ahmed and assistant general secretary Zakaria Siddique Rahman have condemned the Union Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Sarbanda Sonowal for his alleged comment on Muslims and stated that they would not hesitate to start indefinite hunger strike in the coming days if the Centre failed to revoke the notification in total.
