Sanbor Shullai stripped of NCP presidentship

From a Reporter

SHILLONG, Dec 14: In a surprising but major political development, the tiolist Congress Party (NCP) on Thursday removed Sanbor Shullai as its Meghalaya unit president with immediate effect.

The party announced that Shullai was relieved form the post of president based on a recommendation from Praful Patel, tiol general secretary of NCP in charge of North-eastern States.

The party reasoned that considering the fact that he (Shullai) will be busy in his own constituency and will not able to give sufficient time in the forthcoming Assembly elections in Meghalaya, hence the party has decided to relieve him from the post.

The NCP has, however, promoted Vijay Raj, who was earlier vice president of the party, as State NCP president.

It may be noted that Shullai will also be attending the public rally in the city organized by the BJP in which Prime Minister rendra Modi will be addressing the gathering.
