Sand-laden truck injures three, residents vandalize forest office

Boko, Oct 18: The NH 37 has converted to killer highway in Kamrup district.  Several accidents have taken place during last two years which alarmingly high in comparison to other area.

Last night around 7.30 pm a truck bearing registration no AS-01, FC-8276 collided had on another standing truck, which was carrying sand towards Guwahati.

Locals alleged that officials of Forest Department allowed sand land truck to ply on the road taking illegal tax from the truck at Lampara here.

Three persons were seriously injured in the accident two of them seriously. They have been rushed to GMCH.

Following the accident, angry villagers ransacked Forest Beat Office here as they were annoyed with this illegal taxation.

Four days back, an SUV collided with a stopping sand laden truck at Bar Tezpur killing three members of a family of Dhruba Manhanta, Class I contractor from Guwahati.

Locals alleged that DC Kamrup and Forest official as well as State Forest Minister Atuwa Munda totally failed to stop the illegal sand mining in the area.
