Sand mining continues in Bhogdoi, 2 trucks seized

MARIANI, Jan 18: Rampant sand mining in Bhogdoi in Mariani, recently had an adverse impact on the river, following which the SDO of Titabor subdivision had to impose a ban order under Article 144, to prevent further damage. But, it has been observed that the sand mafias are taking the orders too casually. As rampant sand mining continued despite having a ban order, a team of Mariani police and forest department led by Mariani OC Jugal Kishore Kalita on Monday carried out a surprise inspection in the area. During the inspection the police and forest team seized two sand loaded trucks bearing registration number AS03-AC-9528 and AS04-AC-2248 and also arrested the drivers.
