Sangma & 153 others file poll papers

SHILLONG, Feb 6: A total of 153 candidates filed their nomition papers on Tuesday all over the state. Prominent among them is the Chief Minister of the State, Dr Mukul Sangma .

Dr Sangma will be contesting the upcoming polls from two seats-his home turfAmpati and Songsak. On Tuesday he filed his nomition papers from Ampati, and for Songsak he will be doing it on Wednesday. Other prominent faces from the Congress who filed their nomition papers on Tuesday were Urban Affairs Minister, Ronnie V Lyngdoh (Mylliem), sitting MLAs Sengm Marak (Rongjeng) and Limison D Sangma (Raksamgre) of the Congress, Michael T Sangma (Tikrikilla) as an Independent and former bureaucrat Jopthiaw Lyngdoh (rtiang).

The prominent tiol People's Party (NPP) candidates who filed nomitions on Tuesday are former Union Minister Agatha K Sangma (South Tura), former Rajya Sabha member Thomas K Sangma (North Tura), ex-MLA Hopeful Bamon (Saipung-Sutnga), Member of District Council Violet Lyngdoh (Khliehriat), and former legislator Stephanson Mukhim (Amlarem).

Almost all candidates of the BJP filed their nomition papers on Tuesday. Prominent among them are the four ex-MLAs, Sanbor Shullai (South Shillong),  Alexander L Hek (Pynthorumkhar), Justine Dkhar (Khliehriat) and Robinus Syngkon (Mowkaiaw). Apart from them, Member of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council  Neil Antonoi War (East Shillong) also filed his nomition papers.
