Sangma assesses PMGSY scheme

Shillong, March 7: Tura MP Conrad Sangma today reviewed the implementation of PMGSY roads scheme in Garo Hills in Tura in a meeting. Rural road connectivity being one of the major areas of concern in the region, the MP stressed on the need to ensure speedy implementation of the ongoing projects and take up new projects at a fast pace.  With Government of India also stressing on PMGSY roads the MP felt that this is the right time to push for more schemes in the region.  In the review meeting various problems being faced by the officials were also discussed including shortage of manpower in the departments and certain shortcomings of the contractors.  Various steps to improve the overall quality of work and speed up the ongoing works were also discussed. The MP assured the officials of full support from his end and encouraged all officials to work as a team to ensure objectives are met.
