Sangma criticizes Modi government

SHILLONG, January 5: Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma indirectly criticized the rendra Modi led NDA government at the Centre, saying, it should not indulge in rhetoric, if it is really concerned about the development of the northeastern States.

Sangma stated, “People have to practice what they preached… If the government is saying that they are concerned about the welfare of the people of the North East, who deserve more attention from the Government of India, it should commensurate with the actions.”

This is the second censure of the Meghalaya Chief Minister on the NDA government in the past five days. During last week plery session of the North Eastern Council (NEC), Mukul Sangma told a gathering chaired by the Minister of DoNER J Singh that the fund flow from the centre has been ‘idequate’ and ‘slow’.  

Expressing concern over the issue, Sangma said, “It is the responsibility of the head of State to flag such issue to the concern people. Therefore, we have expressed our concern and I hope it will draw the attention of the people concerned because the action does not commensurate to what they say.”
