Sangma urges youths to connect to past to achieve goal

STAFF CORRESPONDENT
Shillong, Jan 21: Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma underscored the importance of reconnecting the non-violence statehood movement if any desires or wishes have to be achieved.  Speaking exclusively to The Sentinel on Wednesday on the sidelines of the “run for North East” at Polo Ground here, Sangma said, “It is imperative for the young generation to connect with the past where there was no bloodshed for achieving statehood”. Sangma stated, “In order to attain our goals and aspirations, violence is not an option. Violence has failed on many fronts and we look forward to any non-violence means to address any issue”.  His comments assumed significance in view of the hard stand that all militant groups should surrender instead of bargaining with the government through their violent arm twisting tactics.
