Sanitation in every household by 2019: Pario

Itagar, March 18: Aruchal Pradesh PHE & Water Supply Minister Takam Pario today exuded confidence on providing complete sanitation facility to every household of the state by 2019. Talking to reporters here, the minister disclosed that the department has been organising various programmes in every district under ‘Swachha Bharat Abhiyan’ to make the people aware on total sanitation. “It is being started only for the public so that they can understand the importance to make their surrounding clean and a healthy environment,” the minister said while referring to the importance of organizing such programs. Expressing full gratification over the department’s initiative and pace to carry out such awareness programs in rural areas, the minister disclosed that within the twin capital cities, a few households were using water for 24 hours whereas other households were uble to get it even for an hour. “The state government is considering introduction of meter system to charge water bill in Itagar and harlagun for greater interest of the public so that every individual will get water according to his need,” he revealed. He further mentioned that the department was conducting awareness program for safe and need based use of water to control revenue leakage, as people were taping water pipeline in many corners of the capital city which was hampering usual work of the department. “The department has enough funds to complete the sanitation process by the year 2019 but on the other hand there is limited fund in the water supply department,” he added. He urged all the Gaon Burahs and panchayat members to take forward the awareness programme to the masses in more areas of the state.
