Sankar Prasad Ray criticizes Phani Bhusan Choudhury

Bongaigaon, Dec 6: “If AGP wins in 15 gaon panchayats out of 16 gaon panchayats of Bongaigaon, then Congress will win all seats of Zila Parishad in coming election,” said Sankar Prasad Ray, president of Bongaigaon district Congress on Tuesday while reacting to AGP MLA Phani Bhusan Choudhury’s remark that AGP would grab 15 gaon panchayat seat of Bongaigaon.

 “We appeal to him not to be over confident as we know he is gradually losing his popularity among common people. He is a leader who can just talk but do nothing. He has been Bongaigaon MLA since the last 33 years but did nothing for this area. We believe that voters will reject him this time,” Ray said.

 Regarding announcement of Choudhury that construction of engineering college and one B.Ed college would start soon, Ray said that this was not at all Choudhury’s credit. “All the credit goes to student organizations like AASU, AJYCP and AKRSU which have been demanding engineering college and B Ed college since a long time. His role in this is nil. He should involve himself in other developmental works like reopening of Ashok Paper Mill, developing of infrastructure in Bongaigaon ITI, and establishing railway coach factory in Bongaigaon,” he added.

Ray also said that Phani Bhusan Choudhury was an arrogant leader. The AGP MLA had remarked that AGP would remain in power in Bongaigaon at least till his death. “This is a pompous comment. He cannot say this. This is the right of people who they will choose,” Ray said.
