DIBRUGARH, July 15:  Dibrugarh District Committee of Sodou Asom Nibunuwa Parishad (SANP) has threatened the Oil India Limited (OIL) with a new phase of agitation if the OIL fails to act in accordance with the promise given to the District Committee of SANP. The committee condemned the double standards of OIL officials and their tactical maneuver   to create confusion among the rank and file of the SANP.

They also demanded unconditiol apology from three officers of OIL who had negotiated with the agitating SANP members on July 10 with a request to withdraw dhar from Oil Collection station (OCS) at Bhogpara  in Lahowal and assured in public that the issue would be sorted out at a meeting which to be held at Duliajan. The OIL authority also publicly promised to arrange transport facility for SANP leaders for attending the meeting.

The Lahowal unit of SANP has been requesting OIL authority to solve the problems of Lahowal region under its CSR schemes but the OIL authority has not paid any heed to their request. In protest against OIL’s failure to oblige SANP demand, the organization had no option except to launch agitation against OIL in the form of dhar , and  OCS blockade.

The youth organization’s joint secretary, Pallab Ranjan Sonowal, urged upon the OIL authority not to play with the sentiments of the people any more and initiate work  for overall development of the oil exploration and collection region at Lahowal in Dibrugarh district soon , failing which SANP in collaboration with the local populace would intensify their agitation.
