Sanskriti Samiti's tiol Conference concludes

GUWAHATI, Nov 20: Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Prab Kumar Gogoi today said that respect for diversity not only embodies the democratic spirit; it is the real guarantee of unity.

Chairing the Concluding Session of the 7th tiol Conference of writers, poets and jourlists committed for tiol Integration, organised by Akhil Bharatiya Sarva Bhasha Sanskriti Samanvya Samiti at the Conference Hall of the New MLA Hostel, Assam Legislative Assembly, Gogoi said this.

In his speech the speaker explained and elaborated on the cultural heritage of Assam in particular and the Country at large. Emphasising on the need of integration and harmony, he said, “These days we are experiencing the worse incidents of intolerance. In spite of Constitutiol obligations in favour of integrity, some anti-social elements are trying to create disturbances against prevailing mutual understanding and brotherhood of the people of different religious groups”. The speaker further dealt in length on the age old bond of unity, integrity, mutual respect and tolerance strengthen by the lives and philosophies of first Ahom King Chaolung Sukapha, Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev and Ajan Fakir etc.

It may be mentioned that Akhil Bharatiya Sarva Bhasha Sanskriti Samanvya Samiti, a leading social and cultural organisation of the Country organised a two-day tiol Conference at Guwahati from November 19 last. The Opening session was iugurated by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on November 19 last at Shilpagram here.

The second and the concluding session on “Semir and Kavi Sanmelan” was iugurated and chaired by Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Prab Kumar Gogoi today.

The programme was presided over by poet of tiol repute Pt. Suresh Neerav. Delhi based publisher and social worker Jagdish Thakral was the convenor of both the days’ programme.

The programme was followed by recitations by poets, mely, Madhu Chaturvedi, Divya Mathur, PN Singh, Poom Matia, Tulika Seth, Dr. Tara Gupta, Surendra Saadhak and many others of tiol repute.
