Santipur High School Students' Union's annual meet

GAURISAGAR, Oct 31:  The 54th annual conference of Santipur High School students’ union was held on Friday.

The day-long programme started with hoisting of flag by Bijoy Krisha Dutta, Headmaster of the school followed by plantation of saplings by Amal Borah, Assistant Teacher of the school. Later an open meeting was held under the chairmanship of Bhupendra th Hazarika, Professor and Head, department of Botany, Majuli College. Addressing the meeting as a distinguished guest Pabitra Dutta, Associate Professor, Department of Political Science, Dikhowmukh College stressed that people belonging to any caste, creed and religion could gather in an educatiol institution to gain knowledge and hence educatiol institutions were sacred.

The dignitaries who attended the meeting were Podum Kumar Saikia, former president, Assam Press Correspondent Union (APCU), Sivasagar District Committee, Soneswar Borah, former Headmaster of the school, Tongkeswar Borah, Bhupen Saikia, Govin Dutta, Inspector, RMSA, Hiramai Dutta, president, Santipur Gaon Panchayat and Ruhini Baruah, jourlist.

the meeting the teachers and students warmly felicitated school Headmaster Bijoy Krish Dutta for obtaining the best teacher award for Sivasagar district on teachers’ day. The school authority also felicitated the students who had passed the 2015 HSLC examition with good results from the school.

In the function Thaneswar Kalita, former Headmaster of Athabari HS School doted four almirahs and the family members of Jogeswar Sakia doted one almirah to the newly constructed school library in fond memory of Jogeswar Sakia. Besides, the people from across the district doted thousands of books to the library. In the function Priyakshi Dutta performed a Sattriya dance which enthralled the audience.
